Prosecutor’s Office launches criminal proceedings against 8 leaders from 5 political parties for “sabotage”

Legal proceedings have been initiated against Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Zurab Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze, and Badri Japaridze on charges of sabotage, assisting in activities hostile to a foreign state, financing actions directed against Georgia’s constitutional order and national security, and incitement to violently overthrow the constitutional system or state authority.

Bail will be requested only for Badri Japaridze and Mamuka Khazaradze.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office:

> **Mikheil Saakashvili** (UNM) will be charged under Article 317 of Georgia’s Criminal Code — for calls to violently overthrow the constitutional order or state authority.

> **Zurab ‘Girchi’ Japaridze** (Girchi – More Freedom) and **Giorgi Vashadze** (Strategy Aghmashenebeli) will be charged under Articles 318 (Part 1) and 319 — for sabotage and aiding activities hostile to a foreign state.

> **Elene Khoshtaria** (Droa) will be charged under Articles 318 (Part 1), 319, and 321¹ (Part 1) — for sabotage, providing material resources for the crime, and aiding activities hostile to a foreign state.

> **Nika Gvaramia** (Akhali), **Nikanor Melia** (Akhali), **Mamuka Khazaradze** (Strong Georgia), and **Badri Japaridze** (Strong Georgia) will be charged under Article 318 (Part 1) — for sabotage.
