Greek companies Depa Commercial and AKTOR Group have started forming a joint venture – Atlantic – SEE LNG Trade S.A. — which will handle purchases and then import LNG to Greece, where it will be sold, including to Ukraine. The Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P‑TEC) summit in Greece on November 6-7 will be attended by senior officials from the US, including Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and representatives from 25 countries in Europe and America. Key topics include the Trans-Balkan route, which facilitates gas transportation, mainly LNG, from Greece to Eastern European nations, including Ukraine. Discussions will also cover the development of LNG infrastructure in Greece and increasing American LNG supplies to Ukraine.
A contract for LNG deliveries from American producer Venture Global to Ukrainian companies DTEK and Naftogaz might soon be signed through the mediation of the new Greek firm Atlantic – SEE LNG Trade. The deal involves approximately two billion cubic meters annually, transported via the Trans-Balkan route. Notably, this year US LNG producers are signing contracts at their highest rate in the past three years. In the first 10 months of this year, US LNG exporters have signed long-term contracts totaling 29.5 million tons per year, more than 300% above the total for all of 2024. This marks the second-highest figure ever, behind only 2022, when demand for US gas surged following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
