On 7 November 2025, within the framework of her official visit to Beijing, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral partnership between Georgia and China.

Minister Botchorishvili expressed gratitude to her Chinese counterpart for inviting Georgia to participate in the China International Import Expo as a guest of honour, as well as for the high-level hospitality extended to the Georgian delegation.

The discussion also touched upon the importance of further enhancing cooperation in the fields of economy, education, science, culture and tourism.

Particular emphasis was placed on the strategic importance of the Caucasus region and on opportunities to fully realize its potential in terms of connectivity. In this regard, the sides underscored Georgia’s special role in the development of the Middle Corridor.

The parties also focused on the dynamics of trade and economic relations, highlighting the importance of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries and exploring prospects for future cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed China’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Georgia’s adherence to the One China policy.

It is noteworthy that this was the first official visit of a Georgian Foreign Minister to China in the past ten years, and the first bilateral meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries since 2019.
