The Alliance for Albanians has reacted to the European Commission’s Report on North Macedonia for 2025, calling it “an important document that truly reflects the internal political, institutional and democratic situation of the country.”
According to the Alliance, the report highlights serious challenges in justice and the rule of law.
“The government must take concrete measures to depoliticize justice institutions and ensure the independent functioning of the Prosecution Service and the Courts. Party-based hiring practices should be banned and control mechanisms strengthened, ensuring that anti-corruption institutions have real and not decorative power,” the ASH added.
The Alliance for Albanians underlines the importance of fair representation of communities and respect for the Ohrid Agreement.
“European integration cannot move forward without full respect for the de facto equality of Albanian citizens at every level of institutions. North Macedonia cannot enter the European Union with weak institutions, a dependent justice system and entrenched corruption. Europe requires values, not just declarations,” the ASH concludes.
