How could the goverment do this to the stab vest industry?
I’m not being glib here, but what actually separates “deadly knives” from regular knives you can buy in Ikea, or any other retailer of basic household goods? How can knives being “taken off the streets” really mean anything when they exist in virtually every kitchen in the country? Why are we having “surrender schemes” for products that can be legally bought and sold?
This press release mentions “ninja swords” and “zombie knives”. These are purely cosmetic descriptions. The only thing that separates a “zombie knife” from a regular kitchen knife is tackiness. There is no difference in lethality or potential for misuse. It’s essentially passing a law against having bad aesthetic taste.
Knives aren’t guns. Most people don’t own guns and don’t have any need for one. There are strict licensing requirements to own one legally. Most people use a knife on a daily basis. It’s somewhat absurd, almost insulting, when the same language and framing is used for both. I’m sorry, but I just fail to see what any of this is actually supposed to accomplish.
Surely this can’t be possible? I thought Labour were failing in every single part of governance?

People are going to cry about this but the clamp down on drill music and drill artists has definitely positively contributed to this.

I still carry a knife everywhere I go and I have managed to not stab anyone with it, I’m 45, I’ve carried a pocket knife since I was 7, I grew in the country, knives where useful for turning the trees into toys, then camping, and now it’s like a wallet or a phone, just something you have with you because you may need it and it’s extremely useful.
