What is interesting is that this government only paid attention to Denmark’s policies *after* their social democratic party won an election after changing their immigration stance.

A cynical person would say that Labour are really only focused on finding a way to win an election rather than solve a problem…

Denmark has tackled it head on. I honestly can’t see us brits implementing most of the measures thecdanes adopted.

    > Denmark passed a controversial law in 2016 that allows authorities to confiscate valuables, including jewelry, from asylum seekers to help cover the costs of their stay.

    >The law targets assets above 10,000 Danish kroner (about £1,150) but excludes items of sentimental value like wedding rings.

    > There is no indication the UK government would follow the Danish example of offering substantial sums – as much as the equivalent of £24,000 – for asylum seekers to return their country of origin

Interesting tidbit slipped in there. Genuinely curious how regularly this £24k bribe to get asylum seekers to return voluntarily has been taken up
