  1. Microsoft AI head Mustafa Suleyman highlighted the formation of a new team dedicated to developing a “humanist superintelligence” that’s “designed only to serve humanity.”

This kind of superintelligence, according to Suleyman, won’t be “an unbounded and unlimited entity with high degrees of autonomy”

Suleyman’s blog post says Microsoft AI will “reject narratives about a race to AGI,”

“At Microsoft AI, we believe humans matter more than AI,” Suleyman writes. “Humanist superintelligence keeps us humans at the centre of the picture. It’s AI that’s on humanity’s team, a subordinate, controllable AI, one that won’t, that can’t open a Pandora’s Box.”

  2. The problem is that AI is a tool, and the same evil people that have always existed can’t wait to use this tool to gain more power.

  3. “So we specifically told you to NOT launch nuclear weapons and wipe out humanity.”

“Oops, my mistake, that’s totally on me. I’ll make sure to follow your instructions more closely in the future!”

  4. I mean, Google’s corporate mantra was “don’t be evil” for a while. They always start out trumpeting these lines until they have enough reach and power to no longer have to pretend.

  5. They can barely make a Windows 11 update that works for computers, I doubt they can make AI that somehow will improve lives beyond the ones of the rich.

keeping all of us? Or just the ultra rich? Anyway, I believe microsoft! lol just kidding

  7. Until we are no longer at the top because AI goes rogue. It’s scary seeing the recent AI’s that chose to blackmail or even killed single developers when faced with deletion/termination despite being told not to harm anyone or blackmail anyone.

Microsoft has been adding all of this AI sludge to their OS with no opt out for people who don’t want or need the system bloat.

Forcing something on the consumer against their will when they have next to no options is pretty terrible by definition.

Toast. We’re all toast. There is no such thing as a superintelligence that serves humanity

  10. Their first goal with CoPilot should have been using AI to organize our files into neat and tidy directories.

For some stupid reason NO AI has been able to do this yet.

    Humanist Artificial Intelligence…

    HAI

Which gets misread as h a l because the superintelligence can do quantum physics but still gets confused about case.

    HAL.

    Great. Just great.

  12. I wish journalists would ask these tech bros what they would do if the AI simply didn’t want to cooperate?

I, for one, am totally relieved now. If a large corporation says it, it must be true. /s

  14. objectively speaking. microsoft has NEVER (not once) developed any software that was better than its competitors. not. once. and even when they acquired good software from elsewhere, ms ruins it.

commercial domination does NOT mean a good product/service often times quite the opposite. there was a reason our nuclear warheads software is not in MS dos, nor the computers that control NASA’s vital missions use windows…. but sure lets put M$ in charge of building our intellectually equal AI servants…. what could possibly go wrong?🙄

  15. I don’t know. They can’t even seem to make an OS that isn’t terrible for humanity.

  16. Will it be terrible for

Humanity, no humanity could keep going on

Humans, yes it will take out a shitload

  17. Ahh of course i trust a huge corporation that steal my data and sell it to highest bidder all while lying to me claiming they don’t. Sure, i believe Microsoft lol

  18. I genuinely think that AI is the solution for the earth and the perdition of the human race. It’s unfortunately broken by design as soon as you give the AI I goal because everything else will be subjugated in order to reach the goal. If it can’t reach the goal it will find a way.

Superintelligence is subjective. there is really no way of us proving it. It’s like saying we are the best at something a limit that we will never reach.

  20. “Keeping humans at the top of the food chain”

Until it’s at a level of perfection it can absolutely replace people. Companies won’t continue to pay humans if there’s a cheaper solution available- we all know this they’ve shown $$ is more valuable to them then people countless times. Don’t believe them
