Ohio County, WV — The Festival of Trees at Oglebay Resort’s Pine Room continued its second day of events, showcasing Christmas trees, wreaths, and a unique “teddy bear check-up workshop” for children. The fourth annual festival serves as a fundraiser for Wheeling Health Right, raising $10,000 last night alone to support quality healthcare for those in need. A total of 122 items, provided by local businesses, community groups, and individual decorators, were available for purchase. The trees on display ranged from five to seven and a half feet tall.

Ivan Myles, co-founder of the Festival of Trees, emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “Wheeling Health Right serves so many people especially with what’s happening with the government right now. In fact, after talking with them last night, they are getting requests for prescriptions and all that kind of stuff. We always like to say Wheeling Health Right likes to take care of the working poor, and people that have a job but don’t have the greatest quality of health insurance, and that’s why we like to contribute to a local community organization that serves so many people.”

The festival will continue with a basket bingo event tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and will conclude on Nov. 16. For the full schedule, including a Veterans Day and a Breakfast with the Grinch, click here.
