The old man in the video is a Greek from Izmir. When Izmir was occupied by the Greeks in 1919, he joined the Greek army and was captured in a battle. Since he knew carpentry, he served the Turkish side in this field during his captivity. One day, his path crosses with Mustafa Kemal Pasha. Here is that speech:
