Stay out of it. Let the BBC take care of itself.

We don’t need the government to mollycoddle the BBC

  2. Well they did pretty much push the Brexit arguments forward unchallenged. And parroted Tory talking points non stop for years. They definitely seem to have an agenda.

Trump – The BBC Is ‘Corrupt’

Starmer – takes one to know one

and then never mention it again. trump enjoys school yard insults and behavior.

  4. Does Starmer not know when to and when not to get involved in something. He has nothing to gain by commenting on this and irrespective of your thoughts on Trump, defending the BBC regarding this story just makes you look stupid.

  5. 99thLuftballon on

I really hope that starmer takes this perfect opportunity to detorify the BBC. Like, this is a gift from heaven for him, but I don’t entirely trust him not to fuck it up.

  6. I_done_a_plop-plop on

Of course he would. Starmer is quite happy with the massive right-wing bias at the BBC.

  7. Isn’t this the same PM who wanted the BBC to stop showing Kneecap after their Glastonbury performance? Don’t get me wrong, I hate Trump, but there’s no defending the BBC in this and it’s not like Trump needed help in looking awful, it’s the one thing that he’s good at.

I also never want to hear another fucking peep from the BBC about how ‘impartial’ they are, ever again because they’re pushing an agenda just like GB News over here and like FOX in the US.

This whole bullshit has really made those ***”The fight for truth is on”*** adverts that the BBC have been running recently to “stop disinformation” age like milk in the middle of the Sahara Desert.

  8. The irony is, it kinda is, just not in the way Donald claims.

When people are so used to things going their way, the one time it doesn’t there is a huge issue.

Not corrupt but completely unrepresentative of modern Britain and completely out of touch with the working class. If the BBC wants to survive it needs to get out of its metropolitan bubble and stop hiring from the same pool of “talent” from the same 2 or 3 universities. If you aren’t comfortably middle class then the BBC has nothing to offer you.

BBC is a cancer that needs to be put down, in theory its a fantastic idea, a national subsidised information network unbeholden to commercial pressure, but instead of bowing to coffee brands and car manufacturers, its become beholden to a bunch of “holier than thou” psuedo-intellectual fart sniffers high on their own supply.

BBC doesnt take risks, is not controversial and as of late (last few decades) cannibalised any from of objective fact based thought generating content, to bend over backwards to be “Inclusive” to the point it is actually not representative of the nation or the views that are held, and doesn’t even address them

If I want genuine honest conversation i seek out a youtube video/podcast with an actual expert that is not afraid to not wrap their message in some media friendly soundbite to appeal to thickos, and will instead actually tell us how the sausage is made.

According to Trump, everyone who doesn’t agree with him is corrupt and biased, while the man is literally dismantling free speech in the US with textbook fascism.

Thankfully our politics and media are out of his jurisdiction..

  12. I hate this current news cycle. This morning I had to hear Nick Ferrari salivating over disbanding the BBC over this stupid editorial decision, remembering that NF worked at the Sun and News Corp during the Hillsborough front page lies and the phone hacking era. Pass the sickbag.

I cannot be doing with the BBC, but even i do not think its corrupt, rewriting history, colour washing, and editing the news to suit their own agenda, I’m not sure that can be called corrupt, as such, i do not think there is someone taking wads of cash in brown envelopes, They are wankers but not corrupt

  14. tripping_yarns on

In my alternate reality, on live TV Starmer says to his face “Oh fuck off Donald, you big fat kiddie fiddler”.

    And there was much rejoicing.

  15. Anyone in here saying the bbc arent corrupt is delusional, they played a big part in covering up jimmy savilles crimes while he was alive

  16. UnderpantsInfluencer on

The news part of the bbc is pants. They need to break it away from the entertainment, sport, education etc

  17. I have, as a commissioning elec engineer, started up manufacturing plants all over the world. ( not Africa but every other continent) and as such I spent years watching TV in countries that are not the UK. That is my authority to say the following.

The BBC is the gold standard of national broadcasting. Head and shoulders over CNN, ZDF, etc etc. If you want it gone you are aligned with Oligarchs, right wing political parties, and nutters.

It’s simply the best. So fucking good it’s amazing that some Brits want it gone. Turkeys voting for Xmas. It’s a bulwark against the Foxifcation of media.

It’s gone downhill a fraction since the Tory party used the Savile scandal to wrest control of the senior appointments in 2016 but even so it’s still the best in the world. You don’t know what you have till it’s gone and the spiteful wanker in me hope you lose it and find out.

    What makes is good?

For one accountability. If it fucks up and someone is getting a bollocking demotion, an apology and if serious the sack.

    But there’s so much more,

Coverage of world news ( truly global news, [Sudan for example](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8dr5e30m5ro)

range of subjects, history, archeology, drama, comedy, sport, local issues, global issues.

    Range of media,
    local radio for each county,
national radio, R1 latest music, R2 pop music, R3 classical music, R4 news magazine, R5 Sport and news, R6 Indy music.
TV channels BBC 1 popular progs, 2 serious progs, 3 progs from archives, 4, 5, 6 kids tv, Scottish progs, Welsh progs,

The BBC website. The most visited news site in the world. The most trusted in the world.
The general website 1.2billion views per month, recipes, comedy, sport, fun articles, serious journalism. God the right wing would love to see it gone

    He’s right!

The numerous pedophile scandals, the other Tim Westwood thing going on, the biased reporting, the cover up of their biased reporting and refusal to publish a paper they wrote on it, the unfair proportion of airtime for certain parties, the chain of apologies after sending plain up misinformation as breaking news alerts, the whole brexit thing, the fact Kuenssberg still has a job is corruption, incompetence, malfeasance and unbridled unprofessionalism!

  19. Numerous_Teach784 on

Trump knows all about corruption – why on earth is he nopt in prison instead of being the most powerful idiot in the world?

  20. There’s plenty to dislike about the BBC but this Trump thing is such a fucking crock of horseshit.

Whatever editing they did, the reality is that he did incite the January 6th attack. We all fucking watched it happen on TV. He was indicted for it. Are we now supposed to pretend none of that happened?

The fact that US voters decided they didn’t care doesn’t actually change that reality, as much as the Republicans might insist it does.

  21. If Farage praises Trump for suing the BBC then Farage is flat out demanding the British taxpayers give Trump $1bn because his feeling got hurt

  22. Everyone and every news agency has a bias. If you think one doesn’t then it just shares the same bias as yourself.

  23. The audacity of people trying to justify this as an “error”. You can have an error typing, with the sound or the image not being aligned.
This was not an error, nor a mistake. It was made on purpose.
I don’t understand why the questions are not who did it, who approved it and why they did it

  24. Greedy_Potential_772 on

    How glorious

The BBC spent the last decade bolstering populist right wing news, brexit, farage, ukip, reform, now the grandaddy of the movement is looking to break them down

all that ass kissing, all that amplification, treating ‘both sides’ as fair, I hope it bites them in the ass.

  25. Which_Challenge_9754 on

Its time it became a subscription channel ..a completely separate issue i know..But for people to be threatened or took to court if you refuse to pay for it ..then at least the option should be given … Years ago options were limited as to what you could watch on your telly.now we are spoilt for choice and most is subscribed ..Are they biased ..course they are !!!!!

  26. Chemistry-Deep on

Trump to sue the BBC for $1bn. My guy, the BBC haven’t even got enough money to make a full season of Doctor Who.

  27. Sabotage-Darkness93 on

    Here’s an argument:

What if both the BBC and right-wing populists like Trump are corrupt?

  28. Donald trump? LOL. The most corrupt person I can think of accusing others of corruption. We live in the worst possible timeline.

  29. He would say that, him and his party have been working with the BBC to push their agenda. It’s been obvious for years. It’s pathetic and the cheek to make people buy a TV Licence to pay to be lied to 🙄

  30. I just assume every government is corrupt, same with corporations. However Donny shit stained diaper complaining about any of that is just too funny.

  31. get your tinfol hats ready, but i think it has the hallmarks of a british intelligence operation.

    1. i credit the bbc with being better at their job than making this editorial decision and a most egregious edit, (which was not necessary), without some kind of nudge. trump intentions were already obvious, he subsequently was impeached for it, althought it was ultimately unsuccessful.

    2. the “deepstate” knew well who trump was, what a trump presidency would mean for the world and there were several major attempted to avoid it. even the republican GOP tried to keep trump off the leadership ballot in 2015.

    …im too far gone…i know.
