Undoubtedly, one of the most surprising and eagerly anticipated comebacks at Eurovision 2026 is that of Bulgaria. The Balkan country, known for its rich music scene, is preparing for its return to the contest, and local artists have already shown great interest. But how will the artist for Vienna be chosen? Eurovisionfun brings you the first exclusive details.
Bulgaria’s Plans for Selection
The Bulgarian public broadcaster aims for a successful return to the competition. Unlike in previous years, this time they wish to involve the public’s opinion, at least when it comes to selecting the artist who will represent the country.
The news of Bulgaria’s return has been met with enthusiasm by the country’s musicians, many of whom have already expressed interest to the national broadcaster in representing Bulgaria at Eurovision 2026.
For this reason, BNT is planning to hold a televised competition to select the performing artist. According to our information, this show—broadcast live on television—will feature only performers, without original songs competing. The song selection will take place later, after the artist has been chosen, and as things currently stand, that process will be done internally.
Further details about this artist selection competition will be made public in the coming weeks.
We can only wish Bulgaria the best of luck in what seems to be a very dedicated and well-planned return to Eurovision 2026.
