Good article. 1 of the three big movable dishes was damaged. Key component to communication with spacecraft and distant missions like Voyager. The one in Canberra was moved and upgraded recently so they know kinda what needs to happen. I’m guessing bureaucracy, budget and lack of decisive leadership are major contributors to the problem.

It says the antenna over-rotated, causing damage to the internals. How did that happen? And why can it rotate to the point of damage in the first place?
