Theodore “Teddy” Floof-I-Felt and I are positively S H O O K!
We’re all too familiar with the red and regular Ski Queen geitost that’s not really geitost.
This brunost appears to be the genuine article from a goat AND salted! 🙀
Purchased from Schaller & Weber for one kidney. I’ve never seen it anywhere else in the New York area!

Unrelated but what breed is Teddy? He looks like a Neva Masquerade
Woah! That’s awesome! I wasn’t aware there’s a separate export version of Tine Geitost, but yes, it looks identical to the one sold in Norway: https://oda.com/no/products/2305-tine-geitost-fg33/. Pretty cool.
Goat cheese has a sharper, more complex flavor and is definitely more of an acquired taste, but in my opinion it’s superior to the red version that’s made only from cow’s milk and cream.
How do you eat it ?
My favorites are waffle with brunost , jam and sour cream or on a rosinbolle dipped in coco .
This is a crime against humanity.
It is NOT salted. Read it again, it does not say salted.
This is just genuin geitost, the original brown cheese made from goat’s milk. It is sold in blue packaging in Norway too – but obviously with different graphics on the packaging.
The red Gudbrandsdalsost contains a lot of cow’s milk/whey and is much smoother and does not have the strong taste the original brown cheese made from goat’s milk/whey have.
This is the OG brunost, the marketing people in the US probably, have just added an explanation of the taste for unknowing North Americans as SALTY caramel cheese (not salted).
It is no more salty than our Norwegian goat cheese, it is exactly the same. It contains 0,8 grams of salt per 100 grams, as does our blue actual goat cheese. The red Gudbrandsdalsost contains 0,7 grams for reference.
You and your cat might be shook, but it is just the actual old recipe Norwegian goat cheese – perhaps with new text on the blue packaging.
Out of curiosity , how much did that kidney cost? It’s not cuper cheap in Norway either but I’m sure it’s at least double there? If it’s 10 times more then woah
