Ukraine and France have held talks on advancing joint defense industry projects, including potential financing through European mechanisms.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on November 12.

Deputy Defense Minister Serhii Boiev met with Colonel Frédéric Bal, France’s Defense Armament Attaché, and Thomas Moreau, Head of the Representative Office of the French Land and Air-Land Defense and Security Industries Association in Ukraine.

During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian and French defense sectors and developing joint projects aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

“Interceptor solutions for Ukraine are a priority. We continue to expand cooperation with our partners to provide our soldiers with effective air defense systems,” Boiev stated.

The discussion also covered financing opportunities for joint projects, including the possible use of European funding mechanisms.

Ukrainian and French representatives reviewed potential areas of cooperation, including the production of air and missile defense systems and munitions, repair of military equipment, testing of innovative technologies, supply of components, and the development of new weapon models based on the lessons of modern warfare.

According to the ministry, the French side confirmed its readiness to launch new joint production projects in Ukraine. Boiev, in turn, expressed gratitude to France for its consistent support and partnership, which continue to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Earlier, it was reported that fishermen from France’s Brittany region are donating decommissioned horsehair fishing nets to Ukraine, where the material is being reused to create protective barriers designed to shield against Russian drones.
