“Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Xpeng has unveiled a new humanoid robot with such lifelike movements that company representatives felt compelled to [slice it open onstage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YExd152QcDY) to prove a human wasn’t hiding inside.
The robot, named “IRON,” features a flexible, humanlike spine, articulated joints and artificial muscles that allow it to move with a model-like swagger.
This is thanks to Xpeng’s custom AI robotics architecture, which enables it to interpret visual inputs and respond physically without needing to first translate what it sees into language.
“In the future, robots will be life partners and colleagues. I suspect that, just like when you buy a car, you can choose different colors, exteriors, and interiors. In the future, when you buy a robot, you can choose the sex, hair length, or clothing for your desired purpose.”
IRON is destined for mass production, although Xpeng ruled out household chores for the immediate future, pointing out that a humanoid robot operating in messy or unpredictable households could pose safety risks. Instead, it will debut in commercial settings such as stores, offices and company showrooms, with the first models expected to appear in Xpeng locations in 2026.”
cutting it open isn’t proof of anything, the way tesla for example cheats at those showcases is remote controlling them with a human in a tracksuit
Speaking of cuts… there was a cut in the video. I’d be more impressed if it was a single take.
This has been posted a few times already. It could still be an amputee inside. The way they carefully cut and don’t show inside the torso or helmet is suspicious enough that I’m not buying the pitch yet. It’s marketing more than proofÂ
Nothing about that movement was so smooth, and this is the 20th time this gets reposted in a few days.
Literal Chinese propaganda on Chinese-owned Reddit.
Yawn..
The future is looking more and more like Blade runner, the thing is they have zero limitations, money is endless, im sure they have destroyed countless lives in the background, in lots of environments, at the speed they have excelled, but no one in the western world can compete with their production rate, we have made them who they are today. They are the new superpower.
It will continue until they completely dominate the world in tech, I doubt even the orange cheto can pull the rug away now we gave them the blue prints and the keys to the door.
China will depend heavily on robotic workers in the future if they’re going to keep the momentum of their manufacturing economy, I always expected Japan to be the one to truly break ground in this since they’ve been at it since the 90s, but their scope seems limited compared to the emerging Chinese tech
The Russian one I saw in another sub was more entertaining.
It is a robot, not a human.
