A Kosovar soldier who helped train Ukrainian army personnel has denied allegations of sexual assault.
As the BBC reports, Bali Hoxha, 28, from Tofts Camp in Thetford, Norfolk, has been charged with rape and two counts of sexual assault on a woman.
According to the indictment, the alleged attack occurred along a footpath between Prince of Wales Road and Riverside Retail Park at around 23:30pm on September 17.
Hoxha has been remanded in custody by Norwich Crown Court until his trial, which is set for April 7 next year, and is expected to last five days.
The BBC writes that Hoxha is employed by the Kosovo army, but is contracted to train Ukrainian soldiers at the British army training base near Thetford, under a contract with the Ministry of Defense.
At the hearing, he spoke only to confirm his name, while defense attorney Jonathan Goodman told the court that although his client’s English was sufficient for the deposition hearing, an Albanian-language interpreter would be needed for the trial and any mediation hearings.
The court was also informed that three witnesses will need interpreters.
It was said that these witnesses are likely to be deployed in Kosovo at the time of the trial, but the Kosovo army will release them to attend the hearing. /Telegrafi/
