  1. Blue Origin, the rocket company founded by Amazon multibillionaire Jeff Bezos, is set for another attempt to launch its towering New Glenn rocket on a mission that will mark its first major test.

Carrying a pair of satellites that are destined to take a long, winding trip to Mars, New Glenn is scheduled to take flight from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station during a launch window that runs from 2:57 to 4:25 p.m. ET Thursday. Blue Origin is expected to host a [livestream](https://x.com/blueorigin/status/1988795793000501452?s=20) of the event about 20 minutes prior to takeoff.

The launch of Escapade — short for Escape and Plasma Acceleration Dynamics Explorers — will mark the first flight for New Glenn with a customer payload onboard. The rocket completed its inaugural flight in January carrying Blue Origin-made demonstration technology in its cargo bay.

  2. Why do they always need to tilt it toward the person who founded/funded the company? Blue Origin is bigger than Bezos, and even SpaceX is bigger than Musk.

I feel like name-dropping them is more SEO and rage-baiting than offering anything meaningful to the conversation. You see the rage bait just in the comments of threads like this. There’s always the “REEE BILLIONAIRES BAD” contingent that just can’t help themselves no matter what these companies accomplish.

The first stage just landed successfully on the barge

Spacex will finally have some competition

  4. New Glenn actually was aiming for a Lagrange point. The spacecraft managed (mostly) by rocketlab is what will go from the Lagrange to mars

He has enough extra money to have a state of the art modern space rocket. I can barely afford a roof over my head and will never get to experience an actual vacation. Really makes one think.

  6. i swear reddit loves the term oligarch too much. when the answer is people click titles not articles and the SEO click through rate of including a known name is an obvious choice for an article title.

  7. Mars eh? Why do these companies keep talking about mars as if it’s a goal they could reach anytime in the next 50 years? Be realistic. Make the moon commercial.
