Kamra tal-Periti (order of architects) and Heritage NGO Din l-Art Ħelwa are asking an interesting question: is White Rocks modernist heritage worth saving? Malta wants to save its 35 forts, 50 military batteries, 200 pillboxes, 23 coastal watch towers. Many are falling apart. Let’s save them ALL.
"Convert one into a restaurant? Not over my dead body!" But save White Rocks? A rare example of British 1960s modernist architecture. "Oh that can be demolished". What are your thoughts?

It looks cool
bro tear that shit down. the only thing it’s being used for is to hold filth, rocks, and provide an area for junkies to tweak out at. there ain’t a single soul that goes to white rocks to admire the “beauty of the architecture”
I mean im all about erasing the british from our history and culture but, if they restored them it would be nice
That visual kind of highlights how it is more beautiful as a ruin than as an active building imo. Really though, I cannot imagine why they would want to rip it down. I’m also hoping that by “park” they’re not going for the lush artificial look….the nature surrounding it is true Maltese landscape, we need to embrace it rather than always looking at countries with ten times our rainfall.
Dafuq are you on? It looked and still looks as hideous as every Bugibba veleġġatura flat.
Run them to the ground, build an underground road/carpark/bus/tram terminus, and turn the surface into a park.
Knock it down !
does this count as urban exploration?
rich england work. heritage yes
Brutalist, not modernist, I’d say.
