And this is an example of why the Assisted Dying Bill is so dangerous in its current form.

As a society we never escaped the spectre of eugenics.

When your society has legalized abortion, favours euthanasia and government health care, this is the result

What is happening in the UK

It really depends on the reason why the dnr has been put in place, if the person has terminal cancer and has a disability so advanced they dont understand what a dnr is , would it not be appropriate for the dnr to be in place? I can’t think of anything worse than bringing some one back to being in pain. Also what is most people’s understanding of a dnar? It doesn’t mean any treatment isn’t given, it just means cpr will not be given if the patient stops brrathing all other treatment will be given unless some other sort of advanceddirectiveis in place. Also with any person who has any learning disability they have family who will.be involved or an advocate who’s sole responsibility is to make sure all decisions are been made in the patients best interests

Not fully relevant but Most people should choose do not resuscitate because they usually die a few weeks later and in not a great way

Meh – able-bodied, of sound mind, or otherwise, it makes no difference … and never has (DNR calls in the UK are the decision of the medical staff and not the patient).

For all the rules & regulations & various acts the state will allways see those with disabilities of lower value than others, infact most minoritys or people classed as vulnerable will see more discrimination bias & prejudice more so than others the elderly included.
Its deeply engrained, people seeking justice get bureaucracy and are then sign posted to organizations that are flooded with complaints & seeking help & support, they cant keep up.
Most the slogans you see around the NHS are nothing more than fancy wording

Was Wes Streeting about to answer to this fuck up? Or is this a new policy?
I remember screaming about this 2 years ago & what i said then still applies now:
“6 out of 10 people who died from Covid between March and July 2020 were disabled”
As part of the UK covid inquiry, evidence has now been brought to light which shows that “Do Not Attempt Resuscitation” notices, were put on the files of patients with Down’s Syndrome, Autism & other learning disabilities.
These people were healthy, before contracting Covid19.
The NHS watchdog we know as NICE, (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), issued guidance for trusts and hospitals advising them to apply a “clinical frailty scale” to decide whether patients should be admitted to intensive care.
The original NICE guidance also suggested that those who could not do everyday tasks like cooking, managing money and personal care independently, would be considered frail & not receive intensive care treatment.
Older and more frail patients were viewed as being less likely to survive even with critical care treatment.
That original NICE guidance were suddenly removed.
The DNAR notices were often placed on the files of the patients without their consent, or with limited understanding of its meaning.
Patients with learning disabilities were classed as ‘clinically frail’
NHS England have of course denied this, yet the evidence shows they let them die, as to not overwhelm the NHS in the early days of a pandemic.
Yet many specialist nurses have come forward to say that they were constantly put in place for people with learning disabilities and often “inappropriately.”
I will forever feel sick and haunted knowing “6 out of 10 people who died from Covid between March and July 2020 were disabled”

As a parent of an autistic child this is absolutely terrifying.

This was also a scandal which was first reported during COVID. Clearly nothing has improved. Quite mad that as an autistic woman with ADHD and OCD I can score 0 PIP points but to a Dr my life might be treated as worthless.

I think people are forgetting that a fit, healthy young adult without any comorbidities has a remarkably low success rate.
Even if you did get them back ICU won’t accept anyone who has next to zero chance getting off the ventilator. People need to be realistic that this isn’t ableism, it’s common sense. Medicine isn’t magic
