Bulgaria’s public broadcaster (BNT) is finalizing its plans for the TV show through which the country’s representative for Eurovision 2026 will be chosen. According to our exclusive information coming from Sofia, the most likely date for this televised selection show—where the artist set to compete for Bulgaria in Vienna will be chosen—is January 31.

As we have already reported, BNT has made it a priority to give a voice to the artists and the audience. For this reason, it reached out to the artists currently in the Top 50 of the Bulgarian Airplay chart, from whom 10–15 will be selected to compete with their own songs in one or more televised shows.

January 31 appears to be the decisive date, while it is very likely there will be two nights—meaning a semifinal will take place, during which some contestants will be eliminated. This will occur before 31/1.

The final decision will be determined both by public voting and by a jury panel, ensuring that the selected representative combines popularity with artistic quality.

Among the potential candidates are some major names of the Bulgarian music scene, such as Dara, Mihaela Marinova, and Galena, raising expectations for a strong return for Bulgaria at Eurovision.

As mentioned earlier, the song will be selected internally at a later stage, after the representative has been chosen.
