      Ask neighbors, provided you have any.

      But it is an old trick used by bulgars. Smear something on your handle to test if you go in or out of your properly. Does not matter what substance it is. They might even take shit in front of your house to check who and when cleans it. If it stays dirty for a week, chances are you took a two week vacation. Don’t question this logic, its what they learn in prison.

      I assume you are a foreigner that goes away often?

      Buy one of the random timer light bulbs, a wifi camera, and ask neighbours to check your front doors.

      I was traveling for a few days and came home to find a piece of toilet paper on my door handle. I also thought it may be burglars checking if someone will remove it.
      On the other hand yesterday I was walking on the street and someone threw an egg at me from their window, it barely missed me. So I guess people are just mischievous with eggs these days. Which is weird cause food is expensive.

      This comes from American media showing an exaggerated American culture where houses that don’t give out candy, or bad treats like apples, get egged. I think some of your youth watched a teenage Halloween horror movie from the US and mimiced the egging that was shown. It’s a rare occurrence here, likely kept up by each new generation watching a movie that showed it happen.

      In 40 years I’ve only known one instance of this happening and it was the early 90’s and some wealthier punk teens in their parents car, too old for asking for candy but doing it anyways and egging houses that had a light on but didn’t answer.

      Normal people don’t waste eggs, nor want to clean it up.

      I have unpopular theory. Maybe you are the neighbor who is making noise for somebody, but instead of talking to you/call the Straż Miejska/Police they decided to do this. I did it once when I was younger and had a big mental breakdown, so maybe this is it.

      Otherwise Halloween theory sounds rational as well.

      Maybe somebody touch it, just clean and see if repeats. Or maybe somebody marks your house for thieves but doesn really happens in Poland nowadays
