Seems fair. It would happen if it was any other immutable characteristic or religion

What a joke. Why don’t you demand everyone sits down and watches in silence. Taking the piss out of the ref is normal.

Very fair. It’s not acceptable.
And I’m sure plenty of comments will say it’s not a big issue or that if it happens the other way no one cares.
A female rugby player just got absolutely shafted for asking which of the players the ref was shagging. It’s absolutely fair and should be stamped out of sports.

I like to think it was done somewhat ironically but the end result is the same, stuff like this can get in the bin. Yes male refs get mocked for all sorts of reasons but there are barely any female refs so this stands out.

They should start saying it about male referees too, maybe it can be overturned if they are consistent with this.
Ed: Though seriously don’t do this. I remember sexist posts about a pundit from my team’s fans. It both shows you’re an asshole and undermines any legitimate criticism you might have.

There should be no place for sexism (or any other type of ‘ism’) in the sport.
However there should always be room for such chants aimed at the ref such as “Ed Sheeran, he’s fingered your mum” (I support Ipswich).

Torn here.
On the one hand, this is overtly sexist and bad.
On the other hand, players and managers are subjected to MUCH worse than this on the daily to absolute crickets.
Feels like tame banter akin to who ate all the pies rather than hurtful racist bile. Its going to take some adjustment to get the tone right for “funny” chants that really toe the line of what is acceptable.
