Hi everyone!
I’ve been learning Greek for a while, and one of my biggest struggles was chatting with locals. They often use Greeklish (writing Greek with Latin characters/numbers), and it used to drive me crazy.
If someone types 8elw or kalimerastandard translators often fail or treat it as a typo. Google Translate usually requires a screenshot to figure it out, which is annoying during a quick chat.
So, I built a simple bot to fix this. What it does:
- Takes Greeklish text (e.g.,
Ti kaneis). - Converts it to proper Greek (
Τι κάνεις). - Translates it to English and Russian.
It’s been a huge time-saver for me, so I wanted to share it in case it helps anyone else struggling with informal chats.
I hope admins will allow to post a link.

Here is the bot in telegram: [https://t.me/greeklish_bot](https://t.me/greeklish_bot)
Τα Greek-English κουράζουν πάρα πολύ ειδικά στην δουλειά. Δεν ξέρω γιατί να το κάνουν. Γράψε Ελληνικά, Αγγλικά, Ρωσικά ή ό,τι θέλεις στην γλώσσα που θέλεις.
Πάντως το AI μπορεί να καταλάβει Greek-English και θα σου τα μεταφράζει σωστά.
Nice one bro
Nice bot! But you lost me at the Russian – get that outta here.
Its Γιαννής but ill take it
Sweet! Good job, I look fwd to trying it out
Bravo my friend
AI services already handle such cases relatively well – including the greek/latin mix in SMS messages.
