iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-
Washington expanded its pressure campaign on Iran this week by imposing a new set of sanctions that now include an India-based company accused of taking part in Iran’s petroleum trade.
The latest move is part of a broader effort by the U.S. government to disrupt shipping and financial networks that it says help Tehran move oil in violation of American restrictions.
On Thursday, November 20, the State Department announced designations against 17 entities, individuals, and vessels in India, Panama, Seychelles, and other locations.
U.S. officials said these parties played roles in the sale or transport of Iranian oil and petroleum products. At the same time, the Treasury Department added 41 more entities, individuals, vessels, and aircraft to its own sanctions list, saying they were involved in Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical exports.
One of the targets is TR6 Petro India LLP, an India-based trader of petroleum products. According to the U.S. government, the company imported more than eight million dollars’ worth of Iranian-origin bitumen from October 2024 to June 2025. Washington claims that TR6 Petro functioned as part of networks that helped Iran move petroleum products despite U.S. sanctions.
According to American officials, these networks provide Tehran with revenue used to support Iran-backed groups and to procure weapons systems.
Iran, however, has repeatedly rejected these accusations. The new restrictions follow a pattern of similar steps over the past several months, as the U.S. continues to pursue companies accused of hiding the source of Iranian oil or arranging payments routed through intermediaries in Asia.
In October, the Treasury Department sanctioned several India-based logistics and trading firms for what it described as similar activity. Then, on November 12, the United States imposed sanctions on 32 people and entities, including some in India, for what Washington said was their support for Iran’s missile and unmanned aerial vehicle programs.
The State Department said the U.S. intends to continue taking action against any networks it believes help Iran generate funds for activities Washington views as destabilizing. Officials stressed that as long as Iran directs revenue toward actions that threaten the United States or its partners, the administration will continue using all available tools to respond.
