As part of the AMA series Local scene we will host Viktor Šimunićthe independent mayor of Oroslavje.
Viktor Šimunić was the youngest candidate for mayor in Krapina-Zagorje County, and he was elected mayor of Oroslavje on elections in 2021. when he defeated the former mayor Emil Gredičak. On elections in 2025 he already won in the first round with 75.89 percent of the votes, thereby achieving one of the best election results.
He started his career as a pizza chef, and after finishing his studies he worked as a telecommunications technician at HT. Šimunić is also a passionate travel writer who has traveled to more than 40 countries, and he particularly stands out his trip to North Korea. He is a member of two cultural and artistic societies, plays several instruments, acts, sings and plays sports.
It is probably best known to the wider Croatian public for being part of USKOK reported of a local HDZ official for attempted bribery.
