Twenty people allege he has a racist past. He denies it. Who’s telling the truth about Farage’s schooldays?

I want to go back to the timeline where enough people can see this 🤡 for the grifter he is.

  2. As much as I love to slag reform and farage. Trying to make a story about something he said in the school playground 45 years ago is weak.

  3. showmethemundy on

Who cares. Farage only exists to force the current gov to lean further to the right. Ukip and reform only exist if labour lean to far to the left.

  4. When I saw the headline I was *sure* it’d be a tabloid or one of those unreliable newspapers that are more about entertainment than news.

    But no, it’s the Guardian.

This is just stupid. We know he was racist. He knows he was racist. Even the random people who support him are well aware he was racist. What arguments over this topic have occurred have been about whether the decades old racism is relevant when you have days old racism to use as ammo. I quite literally do not know anybody who is unaware of who and what he is.

Is it a slow news week? Is it the first week in probably years where nothing is happening anywhere? Who thought it was a good idea to write an article to do the political equivalent of writing thousands of words to say water is wet?

  5. This line of attack will likely bolster his support amongst the people he already apeals too.

  6. Judging anyone by what they did at school before they reached maturity would be fundamentally unfair. The guy is in his sixties, his school days were a looong time ago. Criticise and debate policy to identify the flaws? Nah, let’s attack people for the words they spoke decades ago when they were a kid, that’s way more productive 🙄

  7. Farage has been openly racist while working as a MP let alone in his pre MP life or personal life. So I’m inclined to believe anyone who does forward to tell me they have been around him/ heard/seen or experienced him being racist.

He is a horrible little troll man.

  8. He’s 61. I frankly don’t give a toss what he said or did 44 years ago, when he was 17.

There’s plenty enough to criticise him about that he’s done during his political career. That’s what I’m focusing on.

Have they not yet realised that calling anyone racist, let alone Nigel Farage has totally lost any power it once had?

The desperation to do anything other than address the reasons why Reform is gaining popularity is depressingly familiar. Shouting names at them is not going to do anything.

  10. I’m sure he does but so what? The G/Indy can keep trying to make a big deal out of this and try to hurt Farage with it, but it won’t work. The stereotypical man in the pub doesn’t care that someone was an edgy racist 40 years ago.

  11. What I did, thought or said 20, 30 or 40 years ago has no bearing on the person I am today, thoughts and views changes as does the time!!!

  12. Technical_Dress_6124 on

Labour are taxing you into such poverty and you think people care about what a 61yr old man may have said 44yrs ago…it’s another weak story originating from an already “caught lying” BBC….

  13. He’s fucking racist now, it shouldn’t be a shocker that he’s always been a racist cunt

  14. CockchopsMcGraw on

Let’s do his whole past though. We seem to have short memories here, we had this cunt pegged for a vicious charlatan 15-20 years ago.

  15. Better question: who cares? Judge the professional politician on his political career. It’s not like there isn’t plenty of material.

  16. Has this barking dog barked in the past? The dog (between barks) denies barking. The neighbours disagree. Who to believe.

  17. I can see the contrary downplaying here to quasi defend him as they know 20 accusations can’t be swatted away.

  18. I mean I know Farage is a habitual liar but c’mon; he must be telling the truth here, right guys?

  19. I am deffo not a fan of Farage but school is school. For God’s sake how many over 40’s on this sub can say they didn’t indulge in a bit of casual racism/sexsism at school.

  20. humpty_dumpty47368 on

The people who think Farage is a racist, fascist and a Nazi will not change they mind, and the ones that think he is not will also not change their mind.
What a complete waste of time are these continued posts.

  21. In other news water is wet. Next news, let’s see how next weeks budget goes down. How will it effect you? Tell us know in the comments.

  22. Sometimes I wonder if the left are actually trying to lose the next election. Farage is 61, so to be schoolday comments they have to be 45 years old at the very least. If you can’t see why that makes this media frenzy pathetic, then you’re beyond helping. Reform are winning because people are sick of the small boats crisis. The only way to defeat them is to beat them at their own game, which the Home Secretary is trying to do, or hope that they themselves implode, which very much can still happen. If your priorities are making it into some sort of class war “it’s the billionaires” like Polanski wants to do, or challenge a near elderly man on his schoolboy antics, then you’re all going to get a rude awakening in four years time.

  23. The issue is, him being a racist isn’t at all a deterrent for most of his supporters – probably the opposite.

  24. Willing_Office_1289 on

I’m not gonna comment on his personality today as I’m sure everyone is more than capable of reaching their own conclusions but am I the only one who also made jokes when in high school that I’d never even dream of making today?
