In Croatia, during the first seven weeks (weeks 40-46) of the 2025/2026 flu season, ending on November 16, 2025, 1,634 reports of flu were received, of which 564 reports were received in week 46.

Flu reports were received from most counties, with the highest rate of flu reports per 100,000 inhabitants in week 46 recorded in the Split-Dalmatia, Istria and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties.

Among the flu reports received, the incidence rate is usually highest in preschool and school-age children, and lowest in people aged 65 and over.

Compared to the same period in the last ten seasons, the increase in the number of flu patients is recorded a few weeks earlier. For example, in the first month and a half, 1,634 cases were reported, compared to 129 cases last season.

During the first seven weeks of this season, a total of 59 patients were admitted to hospital for flu treatment, two of whom were in intensive care. Last season, a total of 9 patients were hospitalized for flu during the same period, two of whom were in intensive care.

According to data from the National Influenza Reference Center of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, about 6% of positive influenza findings have been recorded per week in the last three weeks. Influenza A viruses were detected in the positive cases, with influenza A/H1N1pdm09 confirmed among the subtyped samples.
