*Tom Brufatto, policy director of Best for Britain, which campaigns for closer UK-EU ties, told The Mirror: “*[*Nigel Farage*](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/nigel-farage)*’s plans are clearly designed to jeopardize the progress being made on the UK’s relationship with the EU, the result of which would further impede businesses trading with Europe, and push up prices for voters already struggling with the cost of living.*

*“He championed* [*Brexit*](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/brexit) *for years, which our polling shows voters know was a failure and has made the country poorer, and now he wants to do even more damage. He claims to be on the side of Britain, but in reality his policies always leave us worse off.”*

  2. When you have British soldiers on the streets or British citizens that can’t get jobs, reliable housing, or proper support; we’ve already been made second class citizens by Labour and Conservative governments.

Its time for the shoe to be put on the other foot.

I’m no Farage fan, but they can’t be second class citizens when they are not citizens

Yes, British citizens vs non British citizens do tend to have different rights in Britain.

There’s even difference between those non citizens who are settled and those who are here on a limited basis. Is that third class citizens then?

  5. Farage is a one-trick pony. Obsessed with immigration but has nothing to say about improving people’s lives – except those of his rich “sponsors”.

  6. I used to support him until I found out he’s a soy boi for the rich he will destroy our country if he ever gets in charge he’s a nonce and a scumbag who is going to make the middle class lower class and make the billionaires multi billionaires

  7. In the EU you can’t claim benefits for eternity if you are  from outside the EU. The EU will not give a monkeys about this .

  8. Loath as I am to agree being politically polar opposite to him, I do have to question why EU migrants get special treatment over non-EU migrants.

Pretty much every EU country is well off too, why would someone moving here need to claim benefits?

Genuine question, not trying to wind people up.

  9. It’s up to the left to sort out immigration, otherwise they’ll let Nigel in. Don’t they understand that?

  10. Why not just UK requests it’s own citizens forfeit their access to Bürgergeld, RSA and IMV first

  11. I’ve constantly been told that immigration creates a downward pressure on wages, and that obsessively complaining about immigration actually represents some sort of progressive economic position.

But if that’s the case then Farage’s plan will only exacerbate that. By stripping immigrants of the right to claim benefits, it will only make them more beholden to their employers. They’ll be less likely to call out low pay or exploitative business practices because, if their boss sacks them, they’ll have no social safety net to fall back on. Farage’s proposals will lower the floor on bad business practices, and make it easier to exploit all labour.

And that’s Farage’s politics in a nutshell really. He doesn’t care about labour being exploited, he’s actually eager to facilitate that. He’s just a xenophobe.

  12. “Slammed” here means that someone has disagreed with him. I also disagree with him on many issues but I wouldn’t call it “slamming” him when I write a Reddit comment to show my disagreement.

There won’t be anybody left to turn into a second class citizen- come Wednesday Labour will tie that one off.

They are not second class citizens… They are not citizens in the first place… Do words not mean anything any more?

If the country elects reform I don’t think I and many others can even forgive it. Take away our lives, our security, our community, after decades of working and enriching the country?

If the UK wants to rot alone it may get it’s wish. Such a sad affair.

Be careful here. Let’s not deny the will of the people of their democratic right to self harm. We aren’t some 3rd world dictatorship run by despots (yet). Give it another 2.5 years or so.

  17. There are 700,000 EU nationals claiming benefits in the UK compared to 30,000 UK nationals claiming benefits in the EU.
