If a hotel room is advertised as “from £22”, then as far as I’m concerned, as long as I can reasonably easily book that specific room on the specific dates it’s £22 and pay them just £22, then the advert was reasonable.
If they said “from £22”, but I had to go through all 365 days of the year and every possible room type at every hotel to figure out which one exactly cost £22, that isn’t reasonable.
The ASA’s argument is that a significant proportion of dates and rooms should be available at the £22 price for the ad to be allowable. I disagree – that would be the case if the ad said “typical price: £22” – but that isn’t what it said.
Consumers understand “From” to mean “that’s the cheapest one”, not “that’s what most cost, but some will be cheaper”

Premier Inn does this. It’s so scammy and disrespectful to customers. I’ve started shopping around when they do this to me.

Should they be forced to show the prices of every individual date a la Skyscanner? Maybe I would be happy to go visit a place if they price was right, but I’m not going to go spend an hour searching through every date combination on their website, one day at a time, to find out if it’d be doable or not.
And then places like the Trainline will literally say £65 for that date on the calendar view, and then you’ll click it and the cheapest option is actual £137.50 for that day, at 5am. So their from £65 on the calendar isn’t even correct on their own site.
Median price should definitely be a requirement. “Come to the funfair, and try all of our rides, from only £1 per ride per person! (…every ride other than the merry go round costs £4 a ride pp minimum)” or the damn eBay ads that will have whatever you’re looking for at “Pool Cue ‘£0.99 – £99.99′” because they’re put a cube of chalk as one of the drop down menu options.
>!that’s obviously an eBay specific problem, but it really annoys me when using the platform, and there are similar issues on others. Heck, Temu has built it’s company on those and their dodgy intro offers!<
