Philharmonic gives concert in Vatican, Kurti: The performance placed Kosovo with dignity on the stage of sacred music

The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has praised the performance of the Kosovo Philharmonic and Opera Choir at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracoeli in the Vatican, where the oratorio “La tempesta sul lago” by Cardinal Domenico Bartolucci was performed, under the direction of Maestro Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli.
He said that this interpretation, recorded by Vatican Media, once again placed Kosovo with dignity in one of the oldest spaces of sacred music.
Kurti emphasized that the evening reflected the historical musical lineage of Kosovo, mentioning Niketë Dardani, the founding work of Lorenc Antoni, and the spiritual connection with Saint Teresa of Calcutta, who in her youth sang in the choirs led by Antoni.
He added that this tradition preserved from generation to generation has become part of a venerable dialogue with the Vatican’s musical heritage.
In his speech, Kurti focused on the role of sacred music throughout the centuries and the importance of the interpretation of Bartolucci’s work by Kosovar artists.
