With significant participation and a particularly positive response, an event on the theme “Greece – Cyprus: Strategic Cooperation in Tourism” was held in Cyprus.

The event was organized at the A. G. Leventis Gallery in Nicosia by the Foreign Service of the Greek National Tourism Organization of Cyprus and the Association of Cyprus Travel & Tourism Agents (ACTTA), arousing the intense interest of the Cypriot tourism market.

The Head of the GNTO Cyprus Office, Ms. Athena Spakouri, highlighted – among other things – in her speech, the prospects for further cooperation between Greece and Cyprus in the fields of religious and pilgrimage tourism, as well as in other dynamically developing aspects of the tourism sector.

Noteworthy was the statement of the President of the Cyprus Association of Travel and Tourism Agents, Mr. Ch. Papachalambous, who stated that 2025 is expected to end with approximately 800,000 trips by Cypriots to Greece — a number that approaches the population of Cyprus and demonstrates the dynamic and steady strengthening of the Cypriot tourism market.

Promotion of historical Thessaloniki

In addition, the GNTO Cyprus Office presented Thessaloniki through a presentation by Ms. Ioanna Mytaftsi, Associate Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and President of the Alumni Association of the Master in Tourism & Local Development Program. Themed “Thessaloniki. Where Faith, History and Mystery meet”, the presentation captured the interest of the participants, highlighting unknown and historically charged aspects of the city, which enhance its tourist footprint in religious and thematic tourism.

During the lunch that followed, the opportunity was given to strengthen relations with the Cypriot tourism market and new mutually beneficial partnerships.
