Ukrainian air defence firing at Russian drones and missiles above Kyiv
The Ukrainian capital Kyiv was hit by Russian missiles and drones overnight, with officials saying at least two residential apartment blocks were hit.
Writing on Telegram, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine says two people died and six were injured.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the capital’s military administration, says one of those were killed when a high-rise residential building was hit in a district on the east bank of the Dnipro River.
The emergency services said a high-rise building was
also hit in the Pechersk district in the city centre, and a fire
caused damage on three floors before being brought under
control.
“We must be cognisant that Russia will not ease its pressure on Ukraine,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier, as his air force issued a countrywide missile warning.
