Italy is preparing to welcome one of the most exciting moments towards Milano Cortina 2026: from 6 December 2025 to 6 February 2026, the Flame will cross the country from north to south, transforming 12,000 km of road into a story of our beauty, our energy and our spirit.
Alongside the 60 cities that will host the main stages, more than 300 municipalities will frame the passage of the Flame, giving life to a widespread national celebration that will bring the many souls of the Belpaese to the stage.
From Olympia to Italy
The journey will begin on 26 November 2025, when the sacred fire will be lit in Olympia: an ancient gesture that renews a thousand-year bond. The ceremony in the Greek city will kick off a nine-day relay in Greece, covering approximately 2,200 km and touching seven regions of Greece, with 36 welcome ceremonies planned along the route.
On 4 December, in Athens, during the official handover, Greece will entrust the Flame to Italy, marking the first step towards the 2026 Winter Games.
A few days later, the Flame will reach Rome: it will be from the capital, on 6 December, that the Italian Journey will officially begin. From here, the Flame will cross all the regions of Italy, visiting historic cities, authentic villages, symbolic places of collective memory and world-renowned landscapes.
The two Presenting Partners Coca-Cola and Eni
The two Presenting Partners of the Olympic Flame Journey, Coca-Cola and Eni, will be there to illuminate and make every moment even more engaging.
Thanks to their activations and projects dedicated to the communities, each stage will become an opportunity for meeting, celebration and involvement.
A long journey from the north to the south of Italy
Behind this great itinerary there is a work that has lasted over two years and an operating machine that will accompany a convoy of almost 200 metres, proceeding at about 4 km/h.
Each day will begin at 7.30 am with the departure of the convoy, and will end around 7.30 pm with the lighting of the brazier in the host city: a moment of celebration that will celebrate the link between sport, territories and communities.
The route will pass through iconic places such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Duomo of Milan and the Grand Canal of Venice, but also places that have been able to transform their history into strength and rebirth, such as Amatrice and the Scampia district.
