The President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, stated that the Republic of North Macedonia must immediately launch an effective investigation and prosecution of all attacks on Bulgarians if it wants to continue on the path of European integration.

His comment came after the attack on journalist and public figure Vladimir Perev in Skopje.

“It is high time for the Republic of North Macedonia to launch an effective investigation and prosecution of all attacks on Bulgarians there. This is the only way for this country to gain its European integration,” Radev stressed.

The President specified that he personally raised the issue with both the head of state of North Macedonia and the prime minister in Skopje.

The Perev case, according to him, is “a good reason to finally start real change,” as both the perpetrator and the motive are clear.
