The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated last night in the reception organized by the Embassy of Albania in Kosovo on the eve of the celebration of November 28, Albania’s Independence Day.

In his address, Prime Minister Kurti said that he came to this day of celebration with a sense of celebration and joy, two days after he was in Manastir on the occasion of the 117th anniversary of the Manastir Congress and the discussions and decisions made there regarding the Albanian alphabet.

“These dates, both November 22, 1908 and November 28, 1912, are historical dates marked once and for all in the calendar of the chronology of the history of nation-building and state-building of us Albanians,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

In marking the 113th anniversary of the declaration of Albania’s Independence, Prime Minister Kurti said that cooperation between Kosovo and Albania has now taken the form of a deep commitment, which is not measured only by documents or statistics, but by the way in which the lives of citizens are improved.

“58 agreements signed in the last four years alone out of 184 in total and hundreds of thousands of citizens who every day touch this rapprochement in their lives, are indicators that the common vision is not just words: it is trade that grows by hundreds of millions of euros, energy that circulates without obstacles, it is the 2030 Mediterranean Games, students who enjoy equal opportunities, it is 26 new border crossings and up to the giant Pristina-Durres railway project. It is the opening of customs offices, the removal of the apostille stamp, the recognition of pensions and insurance, the unification of diplomas and movement without border controls. In education and culture, it is the unique primer, the Albanian encyclopedia and nationwide cultural projects. While in security, tourism, agriculture and justice, unified procedures and technical cooperation are making the two states more functional and closer than ever,” he said.

Today, as we mark the 113th anniversary of Albania’s Independence, the Prime Minister emphasized that every commitment to strengthening our two states, the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Kosovo, continues to have the blessing of those men and women who gave everything of their knowledge and experience, of their courage and lives, for Kosovo and Albania, as well as for the realization of the ideas of Albanianism as conceived by our renascentists.

Furthermore, he said that this anniversary of the Albanian state is being celebrated against the backdrop of the 81st anniversary of Albania’s liberation from Nazism and the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, remembering that Albania was the first and only country in Europe to be liberated with its own forces, aligning itself directly with the Allies. He said that this political alignment of Albanians must be preserved as such, along with our commitment to preserving our allies.

“May Albania and Kosovo be blessed forever, and may we live and celebrate together forever!”, Prime Minister Kurti concluded.
