  1. At the same time, the mortality rate of people who eat well, exercise regularly, and don’t smoke or drink remains remarkably high.

  2. It mentions the 2.3m is lower than originally believed for alcohol. What changed to make it lower? Liver damage from things unrelated to alcohol? Also, why does it say 2.3m in the graph then 2.6m in explanation?

  3. mortality by itself doesn’t really tell us enough… Id like to know how much life years it reduces and what life quality reduction it has on the years that it does leave us.

lifestyle choice chopping 5 years off our back end but leaving us relatively unscathed ain’t that bad compared to lifestyle choices that leave us feeling like shit for 30 years or more.

  4. I was told by Reddit that alcohol is pure poison and is toxic to every cell in your body. I expected it to be in the billions of deaths per year.

In Minecraft, if you flatten the environment, cover up all the caves and place torches everywhere it sure is a lot safer, but in doing so you make the game unplayably boring.

I used to get drunk like 3-4 days a week and after going to the doctor I stopped and got way better. Instead I don’t drink all week but on Friday night I might crush an entire 750ml bottle of spirits over like 8-10 hours. After a year of going to the doctor and getting blood work my liver and pancreas enzymes always came back normal, but the last few months where I’ve been binge drinking once a week suddenly my markers are causing the doctor concern. I find out THIS WEEK that it’s actually better to drink a little bit every other day throughout the week than it is to drink heavily one night a week.

Here I am thinking I’ve been improving but now suddenly I need an ultrasound after spending a year changing habits. Even partying once in awhile, when it comes to booze, can cause real serious harm
