Oh, so despite the claims of Reddit experts it wasn’t in fact ”a drunken mob” that was responsible for the whole thing.

    Shocked, I tell thee, shocked.

  2. I wonder what ‘some length’ actually means, the courts aren’t really well known for handing out stiff sentences for vehicular crimes.

  3. If the exact same context was put behind a driver who wasn’t white, I’m so serious we would have had more riots on the street. The discourse behind this incident makes me feel so sick

  4. How can someone be so fucking stupid? What’s more bizarre is he didnt have any intention or ideological intent to harm which reallt makes this such a uniquely weird case

  5. I’m assuming his lawyer went “nah mate you’re gonna be bang to rights on this, plead guilty, avoid a trial, get a reduced sentence”

Absolutely awful. Surprised he didnt plead guilty outright, all of the video footage would not have saved him from that jury.

He could have killed people, including the 6 month old baby.

Hope he’s banned from driving for years. Sick of these ignorant & self serving pricks.

“Driving a vehicle into a crowd is an act of calculated violence. This was not a momentary lapse by Paul Doyle – it was a choice he made that day and it turned celebration into mayhem.” -from Sky News

  7. Honestly a miracle nobody was killed when this happened. Hopefully everyone injured has recovered okay

    Section 41 I reckon.

He had a psychotic episode. He’ll go to a secure hospital for six months.

  9. >He said: “His driving, even before he reached Dale Street, was aggressive and dangerous and he was seen to undertake vehicles, jump lanes and run through a red light.

    >“Doyle circumvented the traffic system put in place by the event managers, Liverpool City Council, and swore at fans before ploughing into them as they tried to make their way out of Dale Street and Water Street.

    >“In just seven minutes his dangerous driving meant that his car collided with more than 100 people, including children, in some cases trapping people underneath and causing serious injuries.”

Honestly, it sounds like he drives like a colossal prick, and thanks to his prickitude ended up in a situation where he injured a very large number of people.

This situation was entirely of his own making.

  10. I was there on Water Street the day it happened (luckily no injuries) and firsthand know how traumatic that day was. As he fucking should plead guilty.

it was obvious to anyone with eyes and common sense who walks down the street literally any day that this was just an arsehole in a car who was mad he was inconvenienced, but instead you have the contrarians who have to pretend that it isn’t a common occurrence for road users to do whatever they want regardless of how ot affects other people.

As the court charges didn’t state ‘driving under the influence’ then’ I assume his toxicology test came back negative. Would that be a correct assumption? I thought he might have been on cocaine or steroids.
It does make me wonder what he was like behind closed doors, if he could get that enraged just driving.
