This week the ski slopes “Smeceres sils” and “Briežkalns” are opening, representatives of the ski slopes told LETA.
From Wednesday, 26 November, the cross-country ski trail “Smeceres sils” in the Madona municipality will be open. It will be open on 27 and 28 November from 9 am to 8 pm, and on 29 and 30 November from 10 am to 7 pm. The ski trail will also be open next week.
In Ērgļi, at the ski and recreation complex “Briežkalns”, the training hill ill be open to visitors from 4 pm to 10 pm on 28 November, from 10 am to 10 pm on 29 November and from 10 am to 8 pm on 30 November.
“Briežkalns” notes that work is underway to prepare the central track, which could open on 30 November.
At the same time, Ozolkalns has started snow blowing and hill preparation, but notes that the ski slope will probably not be open to the public this week.
Riekstukalns has checked its equipment in the meantime, but the weather conditions do not allow for the necessary amount of snow, so the slope will not open in late November.
Representatives of Egļkalns and Sarkankalns in Latgale also admit that the weather conditions are still not stable enough to start the season in the near future. Both mountains are waiting for a permanent frost to start preparing the slopes.
