After a great rookie campaign, former North Allegheny girls’ soccer standout Sarah Schupansky is now an NWSL Champion.

Schupansky and Gotham FC took a 1-0 win over the Washington Spirit for the NWSL Title in San Jose, California over the weekend. The first-year player was on the field the entire contest and had 40 touches in the match.

The rookie midfielder made an immediate impact with Gotham and ranks near the top of several league statistical categories. She leads the team with five assists, which is tied for the most in the NWSL and is a Gotham rookie record. She has also recorded an assist in three consecutive matches this season, which is also a club record.

Gotham FC celebrated with a championship parade in New York City on Monday.

Schupansky signed a contract extension earlier in the season with the club. She was also named to the Team USA U23 Training Camp roster this fall.
