Hi, this is my first time posting so please be kind. I’m Greek, and after hearing that Cyprus has recently extradited one of their own citizens to the United States for the very first time, I decided to start researching which countries extradite their own nationals and which do not. Like all things legal, it’s a complicated patchwork. However, I hope to find help from someone with a background in international law that could help update this data, as well as fill in the countries where data is missing. So consider this version 0.9.1.
I’ve broken the data into 5 groups:
Allowed = countries where extradition of their own citizens is allowed
Conditional, discretionary, or treaty-specific = countries where extradition of their own citizens is allowed, but conditions apply. These are countries that allow it in general, if the respective extradition treaty allows for it, or at the discretion of a particular court, minister, or head of state. There can be a broad range of legal differences within these.
Denied to non-EU countries = countries where extradition of their own citizens is prohibited by law, except for other EU countries (EU arrest warrant)
Generally denied = countries where extradition of their own nationals is prohibited except under extraordinary circumstances.
Denied = countries where extradition of their own nationals is prohibited by law.
I didn’t know there are countries who will extradite their own.

Brazilian law permits extradition of naturalised Brazilian citizens for permitted crimes if the crime happened before the acquisition of Brazilian citizenship or if it involved drug trafficking, at any time.
