  1. There are lots of items in Co-op that are reasonably and competitively priced (the Lidl price match helped with that) but then other products that are at least double the price I can get them elsewhere and it seems like complete insanity to buy them. I imagine that is where most of the reductions will be.

It’s the co-op, so that brings the prices to just reasonably higher than everyone else, rather than considerably higher.

  3. Once again, the supermarkets try and deceive us. Coop prices are already extortionate and uncompetitive. They obviously had to dial back their prices to compete with the Big 6 and are framing this as helping the country. Pathetic.

  4. So the Co-op will be less expensive. I’ll continue to support Lidl. How many weeks will the Co-op’s price cuts last?

  5. The Co-op struggles to stay competitive because it’s not owned by private equity firms. I advise everyone to Google the ownership of all the supermarket chains… It’s disheartening, but eye-opening.

I’m glad they’re making efforts to be competitive, and even more glad that they’re consciously trying to support British farms and their produce.

My local seems to keep stop stocking the cheap stock. But i have noticed – couple of things actually get cheaper (after a drop in quality on some) bacon is now not stupid if a member, sausages has dropped back to £2 (and now72% instead of 92%) and sugar is £1.10 atm which is really good. But they stopped selling cheap coffee, all bread products have gone up, cheese is insane, burgers are priced like wagu.
