For the Chinese guy Yago, Belarus became the first foreign country he visited. And then the guy entered the Minsk State Linguistic University, writes “Minskaya Pravda”.
Yago arrived in Belarus a year and a half ago. He admires Belarusians:
“Belarusians are very simple and kind people. They don’t care what others think of them, it doesn’t matter to them whether they are rich or not, but their life does not become less fulfilling because of this. I really like the Belarusian people’s attitude to life.”
The Chinese guy learned about our country thanks to Belarusian friends on the Internet.
The first time he came as a tourist and lived in Belarus for a month. After that, he decided to learn Russian. The guy managed to visit Mozyr, where his ex-girlfriend lives.

Yago met Slavs in China and shared his impression:
“I noticed that they are very beautiful, tall and very polite. Many Chinese people think that Belarus and Russia are one country. My acquaintances share the same opinion.”
When asked about the differences between Belarusian and Chinese families, Yago answers:
“I think that Belarusian and Chinese families are quite different. In China, family ties are very important: everyone gathers together for breakfast and dinner without fail. I have not observed such a tradition in Belarusian families – perhaps it occurs, but I just have not seen it.”
In Belarus, Yago fell in love with the sauna.
“I learned for the first time that people beat each other with birch twigs in the sauna,” he noted with a smile and added: “We don’t have that in China.”
Another discovery for him was that Belarusians drink cold water.
“The Chinese prefer hot water, as they consider it good for their health,” says Yago.
He has tried borscht, cabbage rolls and shashlik here. And even learned how to make cabbage rolls himself.

“I really like them, and I sometimes cook cabbage rolls myself. It’s just incredibly delicious!” exclaims Yago.
The guy is thinking that if he has opportunities for development here, then he might stay.
“Belarus, I love you!” the Chinese man said in Belarusian.
