Hi guys.
I just saw a video that Joko & Klaas 2 guys from germany did during their 15 minutes of time where they decide what is shown on TV

Imo it’s horrible what’s curently happening in germany in regards of birthhelp.
It might not seem that important but watch the video till the end.

The first few minutes might hot appear as interestig. Just keep watching.
It’s important for all of us, especially if you are planing on getting children.

Well, it’s bad that they don’t get paid unless they are present at the delivery. That said, I don’t think this whole midwife model makes much sense. I would suggest something similar to what happens in other countries: you are followed by a doctor throughout your pregnancy, and on the day of the delivery, the midwives on duty take care of you. If their shift ends, another midwife takes over, and they are, of course, paid for their full working hours.

Before the delivery, you might want to take breathing classes with them—that’s fine—but I don’t see the need for any further interaction.

And honestly, as I was watching the video and heard the woman saying “breathe now,” “push,” “don’t push,” and so on, I realized that if I were the one giving birth, she would get on my nerves. I would much rather have a doctor I trust there than midwives.

I was once a midwife and changes professions. In Switzerland, as a midwife, you can work normal shifts in a hospital. You get paid either way for your work, doesn’t matter if there was s delivery or not. Midwives are paid better than nurses, but still not that well. The German system is plain stupid.
