At this point I suspect even the rats will strike next

You were the chosen one , you were supposed to destroy the strikers not join them!

The Falklands and Gulf wars lasted less time than this.

Good, it wasn’t so long ago that driving a bin lorry in Birmingham was a secure, well paid job. I had friends who’s dad’s were on the wagons but could still buy their own houses and live reasonably well. Never mind that of all public servants bin collectors are actually the most important (without them we die, it’s that simple) there should be dignity in labour no matter how undignified that labour actually is and that means being sufficiently paid.

Honestly it could not happen to a more deserving local government. But as always it is the honest taxpayers who suffer.

Soon they will speed up the use of Ai in robots for these sorts of jobs and they will use this as justification..all these men and women want is respect and a wage that reflects the work they do..it’s very telling by the amount of extra people who have left/gone on strike that the council is in the wrong here.

Tell them they’re fired then contact security to escort them. Then tell the security for the security to escort them out because they’re fired if they can’t work as a team.
Agency staff don’t have the pull to do this because of how replaceable they are. The agency would just fire them, get new people in.

The staff of the firm hired to empty the bins after the other people had been sacked, wish it to be known that they have just been sacked.
The bins have been emptied in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.

You know the situation is very bad when even the agency staff go on strike.

Within living memory, Birmingham was arguably the most productive and best-run city in the world. Now it can’t afford to pay its binmen. The way this country has been run since the Second World War is appalling.

Agency workers covering agency workers covering striking bin workers vote to go on strike after being threatened other agency workers would be used if they didn’t accept less pay.

You can see why it’s just easier to outsource this sort of stuff to a private company.
