Each year, the Coronado Recreation and Golf Services Department partners with the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club to host the Turkey Coloring Contest for elementary school students across the community. Three winners (first, second, and third place) were selected for each age group and invited to the Coronado City Council meeting on November 18, where their art was recognized, and council members handed out their prizes.
Each elementary school in the city is invited to participate, and this year, 145 entries were received for judging.
This year’s winners for the kindergarten through first grade category included:
First Place – Faye Castillo, a first-grade student at Village Elementary
Second Place – Jake Lehner, a first-grade student at Christ Church Day School
Third Place – Remi Degree, a first-grade student at Village Elementary
The winners for the second through third grade category included:
First Place – Aiden Rhea, a third-grade student at Sacred Heart Parish School
Second Place – William Burns, a third-grade student at Village Elementary
Third Place – Jose Rahmane, a third-grade student at Village Elementary
And this year’s winners for the fourth through fifth grade category included:
First Place – Ava Lehner, a fifth-grade student at Christ Church Day School
Second Place – Adeline Nelson, a fifth-grade student at Village Elementary
Third Place – Maddie Worthington, a fifth-grade student at Village Elementary
The winners each received a prize that included a stuffed animal turkey and Coronado Currency so they can add something special to their Thanksgiving celebrations with their families.
