POLITICS

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after talks on Monday with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, called for alignment between Europe and the United States agree on how to achieve peace in Ukraine.

DEBT

Italy’s state sector budget deficit widened to 6.9 billion euros in November, compared to 5.17 billion euros in the same month of 2024, the Treasury said on Monday.

The Treasury said on Monday it would buy back up to 7 billion euros of bonds at an auction on December 3.

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases October unemployment rate flash data (0900 GMT) and October producer prices data (1100 GMT).

COMPANIES

STELLANTIS STLAM

Sales of new cars in Italy were stable in November, with a marginal year-on-year 0.04% decline to 124,222 units, transport ministry data showed on Monday, while registrations for Stellantis, excluding the Leapmotor joint venture, fell by 4.4%, according to Reuters calculations.

MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA BMPS, MEDIOBANCA MB

The investigation by Milan prosecutors into MPS’ takeover of Mediobanca is expected to last a few more months and is unlikely to have an impact on the acquisition, judicial and investigative sources told Reuters.

(*) Should Italian market regulator CONSOB find that MPS investors Delfin and Caltagirone acted in coordination in the bank’s takeover of Mediobanca, breaching mandatory takeover obligations, it could require the two shareholders to launch a compulsory cash full tender offer on the bank, dailies La Repubblica and La Stampa reported on Tuesday.

La Stampa added that Consob could also consider the coordination in the share purchase of Generali, in which case it would request Delfin, Caltagirone as well as MPS to launch a mandatory full takeover offer for the insurer, worth up to 50 billion euros.

(*) MPS is expected to hold a board meeting by the end of the week to discuss the investigation into Mediobanca’s takeover, Corriere della Sera and MF reported on Tuesday. MF added that the meeting could be held on December 4.

(*) As of September 30, MPS is well above the new capital requirements set by the ECB after the bank’s takeover of Mediobanca, it said in a statement on Tuesday, adding that at consolidated level its fully loaded common equity Tier 1 ratio was at 16.9%, versus a requirement of 9.01%, and its fully loaded total capital ratio was 19.3% vs a requirement of 13.47%.

Deutsche Bank said on Tuesday it cut the lender’s rating to ‘hold’ from ‘buy’ and it raised the target price to 15.4 euro from 14.30 euros.

Deutsche Bank said on Tuesday it raised the lender’s rating to ‘buy’ from ‘hold’ and raised the target price to 17.60 euros from 11 euros.

The Italian financial services group is in talks with Vivendi VIV to buy the French group’s remaining 2.51% stake in Telecom Italia in a deal valued at around 200 million euros which would increase Poste’s holding to 27.3%, daily Il Fatto Quotidiano said on Tuesday, citing financial sources.

The Vega C rocket successfully put in orbit the KOMPSAT-7 satellite on Monday for the Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), Avio said in a statement adding that the satellite is designed to support detailed observation of the Korean Peninsula.

IVECO IVG

The truckmaker said on Monday its military division IDV – in the process of being sold to defence group Leonardo LDO – would supply an additional 658 tactical-logistic trucks to the Italian Army, extending an existing contract signed last year and with deliveries planned through 2039.

Barclays said on Tuesday it raised the rating on the Italian spirits group to ‘overweight’ from ‘equal-weigh’ and raised the target price to 7.90 euros from 6.10 euros.

JUVENTUS JUVE

Striker Dusan Vlahovic has been sidelined with a serious thigh injury, with further medical tests needed to determine the right treatment, the Serie A club said on Monday.
