American analyst Marc Thiessen has argued that Donald Trump, during his first term and after returning to the White House, has undertaken a large number of initiatives that he describes as historic successes for global peace.

In his analysis of Washington Post, Thiessen points out that Trump reached four Middle East peace agreements, known as the Abraham Accords — agreements that, according to him, had not been reached for more than a quarter of a century.

He also mentions pressuring India and Pakistan to stop clashes in Kashmir, mediating between Thailand and Cambodia, and bringing Armenia and Azerbaijan to the White House to sign a peace framework for Nagorno-Karabakh.

Thiessen cites Trump’s claims that he has prevented another war between Kosovo and Serbia, referring to the Kosovo President’s statements that Serbia was preparing for an attack in May, but that Trump had intervened to prevent it.

The rest of the analysis highlights Trump’s claims that he has also prevented the escalation of the conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Nile Dam and that he has paved the way for a new peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, including a 20-point plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Thiessen writes that, according to Trump, these initiatives place him above any other American president in terms of peacemaking.

He concludes that, if these achievements are not enough to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize, then “the prize has no meaning.”
