I sold an instrument on Ricardo recently, the buyer said that he’ll pay with twint, and that is fine for me. Then he sent me this screenshot a day ago. But I still haven’t received the money. The screenshot looks a lil suspicious to me, but I’m not sure… When I send money to someone it looks really different. Is this a scam?

The plus near my phone number (I censored the last digits of it) looks weird to me. And the fact that there’s no âś“ symbol also. What do you think?

I also called my bank and my bank said that they cannot help me, only the sender can track the payment. My bank cannot see anything

Seems to be a scam for me. Extreme the precautions.

Don’t think they can steal you money without your intervention, so no big deal but be cautious.

  2. You haven’t received the money but it’s your number? then it’s most likely to be a manipulated screenshot and a scam.

If it’s in your Twint app in transactions then they sent it. If not tell them to piss off. A screenshot is not proof.

wait until you see the money in your account. everyone can send you an altered picture of a payment

  5. It can take a couple of days until the payment is credited to your bank account. Check your Twint app. If the payment doesn’t show up there, it’s a scam.

  6. I always make a request when selling something, then when i get the money i send the product. Hassle free this way

  7. If you didn’t receive any actual money via twint, do not send the product. If the number is yours and does not have a typo in it, and you didn’t receive anything, this is definitely a scam.

Let them know you didn’t receive anything, let them know you won’t send the product until the money is in your bank account and call it a day, if someone is sending you a doctored screenshot you should not waste any more time on the.

  8. Shouldn’t it say something like “money sent sucesfully” when you send via contacts to a private account?

This looks like the message you get when you pay via QR code

Whatever: if you did not receive the money then they did not pay you

  9. Twint apps can look different based on the providing bank and phone operating system. So thats not a red flag.

If you didnt receive the payment in **your** app, you dont send the product yet obviously.

Could be a scam, but could be a problem on the banks or Twints side of the buyer. We cant know, tell the buyer to contact their bank/Twint support as you havent received the payment.

not necessarily a scam, just wait for 2 days and then the money should settle

I had this happen exactly like this before, had to convince the buyer to send the money again and then the next day I twinted them the overpaid amount back

yes, it was very unilateral, but I like to keep safe

If they have no urgency in getting the instrument, then make them wait a bit

call them to assure you’re legit

  11. The checkmark ( ✓ ) is animated in the app. It might look like this in the screenshot. I’m not sure if it’s a scam

This is the UBS twint app, mine looks exactly identical. Check if you received the money or not

  13. A common scam, don’t send the goods until you see the money in your app. If he backs out then report the user to Ricardo admins.

  14. Look on the twint app, in ur banking it does not show up as the latest so it will be in between your transactions somewhere!

  15. Isn’t it because of the “buyer protection”. If it is on then the buyer has 3 days to confirm that all is good with the product after receiving it and once it is done Ricardo releases the money for you.

  16. There is one legit reason you did not receive the payment:

You have already exhausted the limit of money transfer! There are maximums for sending AND RECEIVING!

Please check your limits, as those differ from bank to bank.

  17. If it does not show on your Twint app it was not sent.

    Screenshots can be faked.

Twint takes only a second or two until you get it.

Also: always meet to exchange things against money.

  18. If the money is not in YOUR Twint account, he did not send it. You have checked your Twint account, right?

the screenshot is fine, everything looks okay and is in the right place and yes ubs twint allowes screenshots.

so if you dont recieve the money the buyer needs to contact ubs and figure it out with them.

but there are no red flags in the screenshot.

  20. As long as the transaction is not reflected in your bank, do not do anything.

    Scams are very common.

  21. That is 100% definitly a scam!

    * Twint Payments are instantly
    * The text window is not shown underneath the payment confirmation
    * The screenshot shows the beginning of the animation of a successfull transaction (the âś“ symbol only just began to show), but yet still he had enough time to type a message – that doesn’t add up.

  22. The time on the supposed phone and the supposed transaction don’t match… What time did you receive the screenshot? Also, my Twint doesn’t allow me to take screenshots. Neither does my bank app, so it really does look like a scam unfortunately.

  23. It is not possible to take screenshots on twint. It’s blocked. That alone shows it’s a scam attempt.
