With 84 votes “for”, without any “abstentions” or “against”, the Parliament on December 3 voted to establish an Investigative Commission that will determine the circumstances and actions of institutions in tragedies and accidents with a large number of victims in North Macedonia.
The commission will cover the events in Kocani, the fire at the Modular Hospital in Tetovo, the “Besa Trans” bus accident and the “Durmo Tours” bus accident near Laskarca. The initiative was presented by the deputies of OBRM-PDUKM, VLEN and ZNAM.
The Assembly did not accept the special initiative for an Investigative Commission for the events in Kocani proposed by SDSM, Levica and DUI, which received the support of only 28 MPs.
MP Antonio Miloshoski from OBRM-PDUKM explained that the new Investigative Commission aims to determine all the shortcomings that led to the tragedies, in which a total of 138 people lost their lives. He stressed that in all cases, institutional failures and system malfunctions are observed, and the findings will be forwarded to the Government and the Public Prosecution for possible determination of political and criminal responsibility.
Milososki called for a non-selective approach and encouraged all MPs, including SDSM leader Venko Filipče, to support the work of the Commission.
On the other hand, Oliver Spasovski from SDSM explained the need to create a special Investigative Commission exclusively for the tragic fire at the Pulse discotheque in Kocani, emphasizing that such a request comes from the parents of the deceased and from the public.
Otherwise, at the session, the deputies also approved the announcement for the election of the chairman, vice-chairman and members of the SEC, as well as several other legal changes. /Telegrafi/
