Polish police have sent a request to Interpol’s central office to issue red notices for two Ukrainian citizens over suspicions of sabotage to Poland’s railway infrastructure, according to sources tied to RMF FM.
According to journalist Tomas Skora, the request was prepared by the prosecutor’s office, and to Interpol it was transmitted by the Bureau of International Cooperation of the National Police Headquarters. Previously, European arrest warrants had already been issued for both men.
Chronology of Events and Status of the Investigation
The National Police Headquarters explained that the decision to include individuals on the wanted list in a priority order now depends on Interpol. The organization does not set specific timelines for making such decisions.
«Interpol will review the materials presented with the charges and the justification for why these individuals should be sought with a red notice. The organization itself determines whether to apply such a regime»

The 41-year-old Yevhen Ivanov was born in 1984 in Estonia, and his 39-year-old associate Oleksandr Kononov was born in 1986 in Ukraine.
The Polish prosecutor’s office accuses them of sabotage-terrorist acts in the interests of Russian intelligence against Poland. They are charged with espionage in the form of sabotage, creating a threat of a transportation catastrophe, and the use of explosive substances. For these crimes, the penalty is life imprisonment.
In November, a Polish court, at the prosecutor’s request, declared the two suspects to be wanted. The first incidents on the railway occurred on November 15 and 17: near the settlement of Zhychyn in the Masovian Voivodeship, there was an incident involving damage to railway infrastructure and an explosive device was found that did not detonate; near Puławy, also in the Lublin Voivodeship, the contact network was damaged.
Other individuals are also involved in the case. Poland has addressed Belarus with a request to extradite the suspects.
The investigation continues, and further steps will be officially announced as needed after Interpol makes the necessary decisions.
